The Specialised Information Service for the fields of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urban Studies (FID BAUdigital) was launched on 1 September 2020. The platform is being developed by the University Library Braunschweig, the University and State Library Darmstadt, TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology and the Fraunhofer Information Center for Regional Planning and Building Construction.

Besides providing information for cutting-edge research in the specialist cluster of civil engineering, architecture and urban studies, mainly focusing on digital methods and technologies, the FID BAUdigital will facilitate the sharing of 2D and 3D research data and the archiving of such data using an innovative repository. To achieve this, a differentiated and sustainable service is being developed in close cooperation with the specialist community.

The service offers researchers quick and easy access to research-relevant information. Funding for the FID BAUdigital is provided by the “Specialised Information Services” programme of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation, DFG).

The FID BAUdigital focuses on

  • an innovative web service platform for research in the fields of civil engineering, architecture and urban studies, the development of a BAUdigital thesaurus as linked open data, the retro-digitisation of 2D and 3D objects, the development of a 3D retro-digitisation service,
  • Supporting of the community by making available research data under FAIR data principles, Digital preservation of selected research data, supporting of researchers regarding networking and sharing information, the improvement of literature supply and publication services with an emphasis on Open Access.

We will soon be expanding our FID website and social media presence, and providing regular reports on the development of the specialist information service (Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urban studies digital).

We look forward to receiving your feedback and suggestions!
